Sole is our Cat of the Month Club™ portrait winner for May 2026!

"Four month old Sole (pronounced 'So-lay') was picked up out of a storm drain by workers who heard his cries on August 25, 2025. Post leaving Goodwill I ended up at the stop sign right at the storm drain. Seeing two men kneeling at the grate, I lowered my window and asked, "Did you find something'? They exclaimed, "A kitten!" I asked if they had somewhere to take 'it' and they replied, "No". I told them I'd pull in. 

The Universe was very kind to this little one as the manager of the Goodwill for whom the men were working brought a cardboard box and baby blanket to the scene. When one of the men went into the Burger King to get food to entice Sole to come into the well and out of the drain tube going under the roadway(!), Burger King contributed a broiled pattie... it worked! But what a shock when he came to the burger and we saw that he was missing 3 of his 4 digits on his left paw. :( 

Again, the Universe was sooo good to him as our vet office was nearby and still had an emergency visit available. The vet staff immediately gave him a can of food and began an exam. The well intentioned vet explained that he would probably have to lose his leg due to the paw damage. He encouraged us to take him home and see what/if he'd walk on it. Thankful that he never stopped walking on his damaged (now 100% healed) paw and you would never know he is missing digits from his behavior. He is all kitten and loves playing, jumping, rolling and tormenting his much older "sister" Gia. Nicknames? One can be shared: 'Baby, baby, baby boy, boy, boy!' But the others aren't nicknames as this almost 11 month little one is a holy terror from about 2am to 7am when we give up and arise for the day!" —Debbie
